Do you need a power of attorney for a renewal application of an IP right in Turkey?

No. The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office does not request a power of attorney for the filings, not even a scanned pdf copy of a power of attorney.

We would only need power of attorney for partial renewals of trademarks and multiple designs. For partial renewals, please contact us at support@ip-river.com and we will provide our power of attorney which would only need to be signed and scanned.

Do you need any additional documents or information?

No. All we need is the application or registration number of the relevant trademark, design, patent, or utility model. We collect all necessary information, including the application/registration number through the forms you file on IPriver.

Will you send us a physical copy of the filing documents?

No. The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office no longer issues physical copies. All official documents are issued in electronically signed pdf format and in Turkish. We will immediately forward this to you with English explanations.

When can I expect to receive the pdf copies of the filing document and renewal certificates?

Upon your instruction through IPriver, we will file your instructions through the online filing system of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office within one business day and provide you with the official filing document within the same day.

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office will issue renewal certificates for trademarks and designs, usually within a couple of weeks. We will also share the respective certificates as soon as we have received them. The certificates are also issued in electronically signed pdf format and in Turkish.

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office will not issue a confirmation document or a new certificate for the payment of the annuities (i.e., annual fees, maintenance fees, or renewal fees) of patents or utility models. The official filing document that we share with you upon our filing for the payment of the annuities will provide evidence of renewal of the respective patents or utility models.
